Church water damage in San Diego, CA
A photo of our SERVPRO equipment onsite at a church that suffered from rain water damage near downtown San Diego.
This photo shows some of our equipment placed at a church in the Mission Hills area of San Diego, just north of downtown San Diego.
During the heavy December 2018 rains, the church suffered from a roof leak which caused extensive damage throughout its office area.
The church called SERVPRO of Centre City/Uptown, as we're one of San Diego's premier restoration companies and located in the same area, just near downtown San Diego.
We had a crew onsite immediately once being called, and set up equipment, assisted with coming up with a plan for services, and kept in constant communication with church staff throughout the entire mitigation process.
If your church, or property of any kind, has water damage, whether it be from a storm or not, have no fear, SERVPRO of Centre City/Uptown can help.

Gearing up for Hurricane Florence
As Hurricane Florence makes landfall in the Carolinas, the SERVPRO team is mobilizing and getting ready to assist affected homeowners and business owners up and down the east coast.
If you are in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia or Maryland, emergency declarations have been issued as forecasts show Florence will dump records amount of rain on southern states.
Initially predicted to be a Category 4 storm, Florence has since been downgraded to a Category 2 storm, but is still expected to dump up to 40 inches of rain. Storm surges of up to 13 feet are also expected in some areas.
We urge everyone to do as emergency responders ask, keep your families safe, and evacuate if need be.

Preparing for storm water damage
Living in San Diego means very few of us worry or stress about preparing for storms. With a beautiful year-round climate, storms are one of the last things that San Diegans think about.
However, each winter, we receive hundreds of calls from concerned homeowners that heavy rainfall or other storm damage has affected their property, and they're unsure what to do next. They often have questions like, "Is this going to be covered by my homeowners insurance?" "Is this going to be expensive?" etc.
The first answer is, you probably won't get any storm damage covered by your typical homeowners insurance policy, unless you've specifically bought and paid for it.
The second is - damage can cost you anywhere from a few hundred dollars up to thousands, it all depends on the severity of the damage.
Take a few moments this fall to consider the following, and see what you can do to better prepare in case of the event of unexpected water damage.
Are your gutters working and clear from any blockages?
Is your roof in good shape and free from any damage?
Are doors and windows properly sealed?

Storm damage at your San Diego property
The aftermath of storm damage at a townhome in North Park, San Diego.
Storm damage to San Diego properties isn't typically something we as San Diegans have to deal with, but it can and does happen.
Last summer for example, a random 8-minute downpour caused thousands and thousands of dollars in damages to a school in the south Bay area of San Diego, when the roof was open and being worked on. No rain was on the forecast! But it happened.
Typically though, in "winter" (we laughed writing that!), is when most unsuspecting homeowners and property owners discover their property isn't as protected as they thought. This is when leaky roofs are discovered, faulty or old windows with gaps in them, or even doors that haven't properly been weatherized.
So do yourself a favor this summer and fall, and make sure to inspect your property so you have no hidden surprises come winter. Water damage is no joke, and if left untreated properly, mold can happen.
