Sewage Backup in Uptown Business?

3/21/2023 (Permalink)

A hand-written “out of order sign” is taped to a toilet in a public restroom. We respond to sewer backup emergencies 24 hours a day in San Diego.

Restroom Disaster in Uptown

The toilet overflowed first thing in the morning. The entire floor and hallway carpeting was contaminated by sewer water. The property manager told us to call the professionals at Centre City/Uptown, and I’m glad we did. Even though it was early morning, the team arrived quickly and immediately began the cleanup and restoration process.

They inspected the toilet and overflow area and immediately cleaned up the mess and extracted the sewer water. They cleaned, decontaminated, and deodorized the restroom and hallway. They documented the drying process to ensure that the area was returned to normal moisture levels. Fortunately, they were able to clear the sewage backup problem and clean and sanitize the carpets, so there is no odor and no worries about the area not being sanitary.

Category 3: "Black Water"

Category 3 “Black Water” is highly unsanitary and can cause severe illness or death if ingested. All contact should be avoided. Sources for black water include flooding from rivers or streams, water from beyond the toilet trap, water from the toilet bowl with feces, or standing water that has begun to support microbial growth.

  • May contain untreated sewage, harsh chemicals, and microbes
  • Water from flooding rivers or sewer backup
